Summer in the Gospels

The Word of God

When you hear the phrase “The Word of God”, what comes to mind? My guess is that most people think of the Bible because we so often refer to it as “The Word of God.” And it is. But what about the famous opening fourteen verses of John’s Gospel that says the “Word was with God, and the Word was God,” and that “The Word became flesh and lived among us”? The Bible didn’t become flesh, right?

“And he preached the word to them.”

The title comes from Mark 2:2. It is the well-known healing miracle of Jesus when some friends of a paralyzed man let the man down through the roof because the house was too crowded for them to walk into it.
